Teacher Instructions:

  • Students in groups of two or three, assign each group a bill being debated for full session and provide them with time to complete the following slide deck.
    • Make a copy of this slide deck available to students
  • Introduce each bill and give all students 8 minutes to read and annotate the bill on their own.
  • Each group will present to the class on their assigned bill and all students take notes on the bills in their full session preparation packets.
  • The teacher actively listens to the presentations and provides insight, and helps answer questions to ensure that all students understand the bill.
  • The students who were in the committee where the bill was debated can also provide extra insight and knowledge about the bill.
  • Students ask clarifying questions as needed.
