Receiving Emails and Texts

Utilizing contact information submitted through the Family File, parents and guardians automatically receive emails from HCPSS and our school.

To comply with FCC & wireless carrier requirements, parents/guardians must opt in one time to receiving text message alerts. To confirm that you have opted in, text the word “YES” to 67587 from the cell phone number on file in HCPSS Connect Family File.

Unsubscribing to either an HCPSS or school email, will remove you from receiving all email messaging - including emergency notifications!

Please call the front office if you believe you are not receiving emails and/or text messages.

Email messages are delivered to the email address listed in a parent’s Family File. Note that both emergency and non-emergency messages go to the primary email address listed in Family File. Only emergency messages will be sent to secondary email address.

HCPSS News weekly newsletter, providing news and upcoming events.
Emergency notifications (school closings/delays).

Text messages: Parents have the option to receive text messages. Texts are sent only for urgent/emergency announcements (school closings and delays, etc.)

New parents must opt-in to text alerts by texting “yes” to 67587 from the mobile phone listed in their Family File. If they do not receive a confirmation message, they should go to https://www.hcpss.org/hcpss-news/faq/ for information on how to troubleshoot.
Text alerts will be sent to the mobile phone number identified in Family File.
If you were opted-in to receive text messages last year, and your phone number has not changed, you do not need to opt-in again.

The federal government has not extended waivers allowing free meals for all students. Students whose families do not qualify for free or reduced lunch will be required to pay full price.

Middle School:

Inclement Weather Day - Asynchronous Plan

Code PURPLE / PINK = students will participate in asynchronous instruction.

Students will access asynchronous tasks through Canvas.

Secondary Students are expected to:

log into each course via Canvas
complete work assigned for each course
indicate attendance by submitting the “attendance assignment” posted in each class/course

Students will receive grades for assignments in accordance with teacher parameters for the assignments.

In accordance with Policy 8020: Secondary Grading and Reporting, all asynchronous day assignments must be completed within 10 days.

Personal Communication Device Guidelines

Students are not permitted to carry and use portable electronic devices during the school day.
Devices must be turned off and “out of sight” at all times.
Devices may not be used during non-instructional times: before/after school, lunch/recess, during transition times.
Students may not use devices to take photographs, video, or voice recordings without adult permission.
Violations will result in device being confiscated and turned in to the office. (Policy 8080 and 3040)
