Cell Phone Policy

Cell Phone Policy

  • The following cell phone guidelines have been adopted at Southeast Alamance High School:
  • Students may bring cell phones to school. Students may access cell phones during transitions, lunch, and other non-structured time. Without the explicit permission of a teacher for a specific, limited, instructional purpose, the use of cell phones in classrooms is strictly prohibited.
  • Therefore, cell phones should be turned off and placed out of sight in classrooms.
  • Students who do not meet this expectation should be prepared for the cell phone to be confiscated each and every time. 
    • 1st and 2nd Offense - Phone will be returned to student at the end of the class period.
    • Further Offenses - Phone will be returned to the student at the end of the school day.  Phones may be picked up from the main office prior to the student leaving for the day.

�Students who refuse to comply with a teacher’s request to turn over a phone will be suspended from school for two days.

Cell Phone Policy

  • If a student is assigned to ISS they will be asked to turn their cell phone over to Coach Feudale. Coach Feudale will lock your phone away and you will get it back at the end of the day. If a student does not turn over their cell phone then they will be suspended for a minimum of two days.

Tardy Policy

  • Students that are late to class are considered tardy. Below is our tardy policy to help address the issue.
    • 4 cumulative unexcused tardies = Administrative Conference
    • 8 cumulative unexcused tardies = Lunch Detention and Parent Contact
    • 12 cumulative unexcused tardies = 1 Day of ISS or Saturday School Assignment
    • 16 cumulative unexcused tardies = 2 Days of ISS or Saturday School Assignment
  • Students that ride a late bus will receive an excused tardy and it will not count against the student.

Academic Honor Code

Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, cheating, collusion, malpractice, plagiarizing, fabricating information or citations, copying someone else’s work or allowing someone else to use your own work as theirs, unauthorized use of technology for work, facilitating acts of academic dishonesty by others, having unauthorized possession of examinations, submitting work of another person or work previously used without informing the instructor, or tampering with the academic work of other students

Honor Statement:

Learning is about the process, not necessarily the outcome. I made my best individual effort and I have not given nor received any unauthorized assistance on this assignment. All of the work presented is my own.

Academic Honor Code

Consequences:

  • 1st Consequence: The student will receive a zero with an opportunity to take an alternate assignment that he/she must complete within three days. The student can earn 60% credit for the alternate assignment and will receive one day of ISS.
  • 2nd Consequence: The student will receive a zero with an opportunity to take an alternate assignment that he/she must complete within three days. The student can earn 60% credit for the alternate assignment and will receive one day of ISS.
  • 3rd Consequence: The student will receive a zero for the assignment and receive one day of OSS.

The consequences are cumulative throughout the student's high school career.

Lunch Information

  • Students are not to “wander” at lunch. Students should remain in the cafeteria or in the courtyard.
  • Students can use the restrooms by the gym and auditorium during lunch.
  • Students ARE NOT ALLOWED go to the student parking lot during lunch.

Lunch Information

  • Students are expected to clean up after themselves before leaving the cafeteria at the end of lunch.
  • Lunch Detention will be held in the ISS room each day during all 4 lunches.
    • The ISS Room is located in Room 1006, near the main office.

Exam Exemption Policy

  • High school students may be exempt from a final exam that is not state required if the student meets the criteria below.
    • a grade of “A” and no more than five (5) absences during the semester
    • a grade of “B” and no more than four (4) absences during the semester
    • A grade of “C” and no more than three (3) absences during the semester

  • Any absences (excused or unexcused) count toward the limit for exam exemption except school sponsored field trips, school approved activities, religious holidays and district approved medical hardship waivers.  The goal of this policy is to reinforce the importance of instructional time during the school day.

​

  • All students shall be permitted the opportunity to take the examination, even if they are eligible for the examination exemption.  If a student decides to take the examination then the examination grade will count as 20% of their final grade for the course.

​

  • Exempted students that choose not to take the examination will determine their final course grade by averaging their two quarter grades equally.
