Schneider Fellowship

Summer

• 12-weeks; full-time (35-40 hours); working with one of 9 partner host organizations
• $11,500 stipend; up to $1,500 additional for professional travel-related expenses
• Co-sponsored by Precourt Institute for Energy and the Haas Center

One-year (1Y)

• 12 months; full-time; Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) regional offices (NYC; SF; Chicago)
• 3 positions available
• Stipend determined by experience; ~$65k (based on experience level) + benefits

​

Application deadline for summer and 1Y is January 27, 2026

• Short essay questions or cover letter
• Resume
• Transcript
• 2 reference names (summer for USGBC and CA Forward)
• 2 recommendation letters (1Y only)
• Writing sample (1Y only)

Interviews take place Feb. 17-27, 2026

Offers made by early March 2026

Placement starts either June 8, 15, or 22 (summer) or August/Sept (1Y)

• Summer: 2 reference names for USGBC, 1 reference for CA Forward
• 1Y: Two letters of recommendation (one academic & one professional)
• Haas collects submitted applications and sends them to partner orgs. They review, interview, and select fellows.
