When managing a site as a teacher, we need it to be as simple to adapt as possible.

You can try:

  • Using google drawing as a task board
  • Embedding content into the site itself (standard)
  • Using a google slide
  • Or a mix of all of the above

Whatever you do, make sure it is easy to adapt or copy. You could

  • Use 1 template for all tasks or groups
  • Design tasks that can be used by all students regardless of level.

In the end, it will be you who has to maintain this site. So don’t make it too hard to adapt.

Websites open up how we can design tasks and help our students with rich and engaging activities.

There are two main styles I have used and have found work well.

Single task multiple sources

Multi-Modal

MULTI-MODAL

characterized by several different modes of activity or occurrence.

Teacher led hands on activity/model

Video prompt/text

You can add as many texts or prompts as needed.

Task at their level. Used to practice the LO being taught. independently.

Extension is slightly above their level. Can be completed once strategy and workshop have both been achieved.

Model from your workshop or could be a “how to” video sourced from the web.

Learning + success steps to get there. Used as a referral point in all lessons.

There are many ways to engage...

Students all learn in different ways. Knowing your students will always help guide you towards your task design and website design. What works best for you may not be the right approach for your students.
