OBJECTIVES

• To provide music lessons for children at minimal cost to the family

• To enhance personal characteristics such as self-esteem, creativity, self-discipline, and personal expression

• To make available opportunities for goal setting through the formal examination process at no cost to the student

• To provide performance opportunities

• To make available scholarships to exemplary students

• To reveal talents in the community and prepare the next generation of musicians

MEET THE TEACHER: Mr WILFRIED BOGNI

• Music Teacher, École Jean-Claude Mahé

•Piano instructor, Private, Edmonton

  • Trained in Irina Gorin, Orff and Kodaly music pedagogies, Canada

  • Graduate and post-graduate in Education, Music Education and Musicology, Canada & Ivoiry Coast

  • Proud Husband and Dad of two!!!

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • 6 students per classes
  • 6 lesson keyboards (to stay) and 6 practices keyboard (to go – upon deposit and signature)
  • Lesson book, supplies and assignment sheets to be provided
  • Curriculum: Beginner method

CODE OF CONDUCT:

  • Mutual respect among teacher, students, and their families
  • Punctuality and a serious approach to learning
  • Care for musical equipments and the classroom
  • Open and supportive communication

Attendance and Absence Notifications

  • All absences must be reported at least 48 hours in advance via email at iwdimaa@cae-ace.ca
  • Absences due to urgent or unforeseen medical reasons must be reported as soon as possible.
  • A written warning will be issued upon the first unnotified absence.
  • After 2 unnotified absences, student will be removed from the program

Respect and Behavior

  • Students must behave respectfully toward the teacher and other students at all times.
  • Any disrespectful, intimidating, or disruptive behavior is strictly prohibited.
  • Polite and appropriate language is required throughout the lesson.
  • Under NO circumstances are the parents to communicate directly with the teacher outside of program meetings

Punctuality

  • Students must arrive in class 10 min before the start for their lesson.
  • A tardiness of more than 15 minutes without prior notice will be treated as an unexcused absence.
  • Time lost due to tardiness will not be made up.

Cell Phones and Electronic Devices

  • Cell phones must be turned off or set to silent mode during class.
  • The use of cell phones during class is prohibited except in emergencies.
  • The teacher may require that any device used inappropriately be put away immediately.

Care of Equipment

  • Students must handle the piano’s (class and home) and all equipment with care and respect.
  • Any intentional damage must be repaired at the expense of the family concerned.
  • Sheet music and workbooks must be brought to every lesson.

Practice at Home

  • Regular practice at home is strongly recommended and essential for progress.
  • The instructor will assign exercises at each session. Students are encouraged to complete them before thenext lesson.
