The president is NOT elected by popular vote. Instead, representatives called the Electoral College make the decision.

EXECUTIVE

The Executive Branch makes the laws of the government actually happen. They enable and enforce.

The President leads the executive and has many roles including militarily, diplomatically and domestically.

The President is the Head of State who represents the nation with foreign leaders.

The President is the main voice the media and people hear from and listen to (mostly through the Press Secretary.)

The President is assisted by a group of advisors known as the cabinet. Each leads a different department in the government.

The President runs the government making sure the laws are “faithfully executed.”

The Situation Room

The President is the Commander in Chief – the leader of the U.S. military. He cannot declare war, however.
