“Action” Jackson

Famous artist Jackson Pollock (abstract expressionist) was know to create “action” art very differently ... in very creative ways with modern & household objects. If he were still alive today many artists think he would use many of our current technologies (including robotics) to create new types of art!

How will we program Sphero to paint?

Your ideas?

  • remote control it through paint
  • sphero spreads paint around
  • use our STEM colors: red, green, orange, blue (add accents yellow, light blue, light green).

What apps?

  • Draw & Drive, LAB (remote control), Tickle (Dance script)

Sphero Painting RULES

  1. NO ONE touches the paint or Spheros unless Mr. Staum gives permission- kids use/program with the iPads.
  2. Taking Turns: If you are not using an iPad to paint with Sphero THEN YOU ARE WATCHING ...NOT TOUCHING the canvas!!! Only Sphero & paint touches canvas please.
  3. You need to put a Paint Shirt on because of potential paint splatter

Spheros can paint!

Goal 1: Kids program Spheros to push & smear thick paint

to serve as a thick abstract background like Pollock did.

Video clip of action

Goal 2: Kids dip Spheros (instead of paint brushes)

into paint buckets and then do action drips over

our background like Jackson Pollock did with object!
