Step by Step Process

for the Membership Committee

Online Application Received

  • Email notifying of online application received
  • MC to call Applicant within 2 business days to thank them for applying and check if payment has been made
    • If no, advise payment must be paid at the time of application as part of the process
    • If yes, organise a time for interview within 5 days

MC Duties

  • Send an email from the chapter MC Gmail account to all members (as BCC) asking for any objections. Advise the chapter of:
    • Name of applicant
    • Company they will represent
    • Specialty they have applied for
    • Date/time for any objections to be sent in writing to MC
  • Ensure all of the MC / VP have the details of any written objections prior to the interview

Applicant’s Interview

  • At interview with 2 x MC conducting the interview, check with Applicant:
    • Specialty they have applied for, by showing them the specialty list
    • Confirmation as to their sponsor
    • That they know the weekly meeting fees are separate to their membership
    • What would they score their attendance out of 10?
      • If they score at 8 or lower, consider advising them that timing may not be right for them now
    • What would they score their capacity to take on work out of 10?
      • If they score at 8 or lower, advise them that timing may not be right for them now
    • What would they score their capacity to become a Green member out of 10?
      • If they score at 8 or lower, advise them that timing may not be �right for them now

After the Applicant’s Interview

  • MC to call referees, nothing the preference these should not be BNI members as referees
  • Conduct due diligence by way of internet search:
    • General resources including website, awards, achievements, affiliations, associations, social media, etc.
    • Industry specific resources including Tax Practitioners Board, Financial Advisory Register, Australian Insurance Register, Register of Lawyers, etc.
  • Provide summary to the rest of the MC
  • Full MC to vote, with VP casting vote only in the �event of deadlock

The Decision

  • Approved Application:
    • MC notifies President & Chapter of successful application, including who the sponsor is
    • MC notifies Applicant of successful application, and discusses the following:
      • Induction at the next chapter meeting
      • Who could they invite to their Induction (eg a friend, colleague, family member, etc.)
      • Orientation after the meeting
  • Declined Application:
    • MC to advise SGDC who will contact Applicant.
    • MC to inform Chapter than an application has been unsuccessful (via MC Gmail account)
