Cultural Group Options: Hmong, Somali, Ojibwe, Sioux, Pennsylvania Dutch, Filipino, Oromo, Syrian, Russian, Mexican, Mormon

To include in presentation (see your assignment sheet for further instructions):

  • The hearth of the cultural group
  • The diffusion path your cultural group took to come to the US.
  • The area(s) where your cultural group is currently located in the U.S.
  • Push and Pull factors. What caused your group to come to the U.S.? You should list and explain at least 4 push/pull factors (it can be any combination, each cultural group will be different) that caused your group to migrate.
  • Pictures or sketches that provide evidence of how your group’s culture is seen the United States. You should include at least 5 pictures. Pictures should be AUTHENTIC, not stereotypical. Examples could include: shops, restaurants, places of worship, celebrations, architecture, etc.
  • List and describe five specific cultural traits of your cultural group. Examples could include language, food, religion, clothing, sports, traditional housing, holidays, folk tales, literature, or music.
  • Reference list: copy and paste URLs (website links) from each site that you gathered information from.
