Quests for Political Power

-Political gain is a possible reason for the subjugation of nations. Rulers look out for the benefits of the country, but they also rule to serve themselves. -The Crusades occurred in the Middle Ages. It was a Holy War between Christians and Muslims for the Holy City of Jerusalem. The Christian Europeans wanted to claim it because it was where Jesus was born. However, the Muslims would not give the city up. Thus, war broke out. (source 3)
