    • Consists of culturally-oriented organizations
      • Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA), Latinx/a/o, and various other Multicultural groups
    • Regardless of cultural orientation, membership is open to all who share the values of the organization, and an interest in serving these communities

    • Labeled as ‘Americanized’ or ‘Less Hispanic”
      • Because of: the way someone dresses, speaks, acts doesn’t ‘fit’ into the stereotypes placed onto the Latinx community
    • Being treated as a sexual object because of their cultural orientation

    • Blaming COVID 19 on this community, resulting in hate crimes and stigmas
      • Avoided and verbally assaulted due to misinformation.
    • Harassment, discrimination, and hate crimes against the APIDA community have increased dramatically since the pandemic, resulting in the Stop Asian Hate movement

    • “Where are you really from?”
    • “Where were you born?”
    • “You speak good English.”
      • Message: You are not American, you are a foreigner

    • “You are really good at math,”
    • “You people always do well in school”
    • “If I see lots of Asian students in my class, I know it’s going to be a hard class.”
      • The impact of assuming this group is good at school can be harmful.
      • May result feeling pressured to conform to a stereotype they don't have, particularly if they were not good at school.

      • Police brutality toward African Americans sparked the Black Lives Matter Movement

  • A non person of color clutching their purse or checking their wallet as an African American approaches or passes.

      • You are a criminal/dangerous.
      • You are going to steal/You are poor
      • You do not belong
  • “I don’t see color.”
  • “There is only one race, the human race.”

      • Denying a person of color racial/ethnic experiences.
      • Assimilate/acculturate to the dominant (White)culture.
