What is a Socratic Seminar?

Socratic seminars are named for their embodiment of Socrates’ belief in the power of asking questions, and valuing inquiry and discussion. Socratic seminars acknowledge the highly social nature of learning.

The Socratic seminar is a formal discussion, based on a text, in which the organizer asks open-ended questions. Within the context of the discussion, participants listen closely to the comments of others, thinking critically for themselves, and articulate their own thoughts and their responses to the thoughts of others. They question intelligently and civilly.

Impact of ETF Launch on Bitcoin Supply and Market Dynamics

  1. Daily Purchase Increase: Post-ETF launch, daily bitcoin purchases rose to an average of 2,943.
  2. Annual Projection: Extrapolating this growth, ETFs are expected to acquire approximately 1,218,787 bitcoins within a year post-launch, representing 5.8% of total supply.
  3. Previous Holdings: Before the US Spot Bitcoin ETF launch, other ETFs and funds already held 3.84% of the bitcoin supply.
  4. Future Holdings Estimate: Combining pre-existing holdings with the projected annual acquisition, ETFs and funds could control up to 9.64% of total bitcoin supply a year after the ETF launch.
  5. Market Value: The 9.64% of bitcoin supply potentially held by ETFs and funds would be valued at $143.7 billion, based on current prices.

More L2 Solutions!

L2 details

BitVM

  • Turing-complete Bitcoin contracts. This requires no changes to the network’s consensus rules. Rather than executing computations on Bitcoin, they are merely verified.

Arc

  • Alternative second-layer scaling approach that avoids liquidity issues and improves on-boarding, but requires an Ark Service Provider (ASP). Is theoretically functional without any consensus changes, but better with covenants.

Liquid

  • Bitcoin federated sidechain with a bitcoin-like VM.

L2 details

Drive Chains

  • Sidechains using BIP 300/301 which requires a soft fork.

Rootstock - RSK

  • EVM-based federated sidechain, in use since 2018

Stacks

  • Proof-of-Transfer sidechain, in use since 2021
