Freedom From the Slavery of Sin

Rom 7:20  Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 

The People of God We Once Slaves

• Exo 1:13  And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour: 
• Exo 1:14  And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour. 

We Became Slaves of Sin Because of One Man’s Disobedience

• Rom 5:19  For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. 

Sin That Dwells in Us Compels Us to Do Evil

Rom 7:18  For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. 

Rom 7:19  For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 

Rom 7:20  Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 

The Hopelessness of a Slave of Sin

• Rom 7:24  O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 
• Rom 7:25  I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. 

The Flesh Mind the Things of the Flesh

• Rom_8:5  For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

Our Heart is a Slavemaster

• Luk_6:45  A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
• Rom 7:5  For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. 

God Has Heard Your Cries

• "I have seen the affliction of My people… I have heard their cry… I know their sufferings." (Exodus 3:7)

Freedom from Slavery

• Isa 61:1  The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 

The debt certificate is destroyed

• “He canceled the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross." Colossians 2:14

The Next Generation Does not Bear the Sins of the Parents

• Eze 18:20  The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. 

Inner Freedom is Not Cancelled By Physical Chains

• Act 16:24  Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. 
• Act 16:25  And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. 

Servants of Sin or Servants of Righteousness

• Rom 6:15  What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. 
• Rom 6:16  Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 
• Rom 6:17  But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 
• Rom 6:18  Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. 

The Old Man is Crucified and the Body of Sin is Destroyed

Rom 6:6  Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 

Rom 6:7  For he that is dead is freed from sin. 

Rom 6:8  Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: 

Dead Unto Christ, Alive Unto Christ

• Rom 6:9  Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. 
• Rom 6:10  For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. 
• Rom 6:11  Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 

Dying to Self, A Daily Walk in Self Denial

• Mar 8:34  And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Renewed in Knowledge

• Col 3:10  And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: 

Free Indeed. Now.
