  • 1st year at Sierra but 5th year in Education field

This year, students will learn…

  • Geographic skills
  • Understanding of forms of government, impact of culture, economic systems
  • Ancient civilizations and their influences on today’s society
    • Sumer/Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome, China, etc

Students will be using Quizizz.com frequently during their lessons, as this is the platform I use for notes and independent review.

What will students need for class?

Everyday Materials

  • Computer/Device
    • Computers /Chromebooks are easier to use than iPads
  • Pencil or Pen
  • Dedicated Folder for Social Studies

Occasional Materials

  • Markers and/or Colored Pencils
  • Wired headphones
  • Highlighters (Pink, Green, Yellow, and Blue)

Students do NOT need a notebook for my class. Any notes taken will be in a provided fill-in-the-black packet that they will keep in their class folder

Grading

Infinite Campus

IC is the only place that will give you an accurate representation of your child(ren)’s grades and missing work.

The gradebook (IC) will be broken up as follows:

  • Tests/Projects/Essays (40%)
  • Quizzes & Short Constructed Responses (SCRs) (20%)
  • Classwork (20%)
  • Work Habits (20%)
    • Based on school-wide SOAR model
