Congratulations!

You have finished 12 Independent, though somewhat guided, activities in the Scratch beginner + intermediate program so far. You have also done a truly independent midterm activity in the beginner’s program.

In this process you have learnt a whole lot of new concepts, right from getting familiar with basic sprites to creating drawings on screen to creating basic animations, adding music, logical conditions, variables, broadcast and cloning.

It is time for you to consolidate this learning and also showcase your creativity in a truly independent manner.

You have to build a project where you can showcase ALL these concepts and more (if you wish).

What do the students have to do?

Students have to create a project of their liking that illustrates the concepts that have been covered so far.

Please see the suggested outline below and also the marking criteria.

A suggested outline!

4

Just to get you thinking, we are suggesting the following outline:

  1. Think of a simple interactive Scratch game. Examples could be modifications/enhancements of the class projects. For example, you can consider building a shooting game where a single player in the middle of the screen has to fight an army of robots that shoot from one of the four corners (sort of like a combination of the shooting and the color wheel games)
  2. Define the characters (sprites) and the rules clearly.
  3. Develop the project

You can refer to the WISE page on the WIBYTE website for ideas and also you can refer to the Scratch platform. But just like case of the regular independent activities, please make sure you are doing independent work. Remember, this is your chance to get truly independent practice – Use it wisely!
