  • Attend College admissions visits during the school day at South. See list of visiting schools on Naviance
  • Take a virtual tour and visit campus if possible
  • Explore the specific major or specialty on the college website
  • Talk to family members, teachers, employers about their college experiences

  • Full academic transcript
  • Senior year schedule
  • Extracurricular activities – affiliated with school and community
  • Personal essay
  • Letters of recommendations
  • Standardized test scores

Standardized Test Information

  • Students are responsible for sending SAT/ACT results to colleges.
  • Official test results must be sent from the College Board and ACT.
  • Subject tests-Some schools require SAT Subject Exams. Check your college list.
  • AP exams results must be sent from the College Board.

Application Deadlines

  • Early Decision – binding agreement

  • Early Action – non binding agreement
    • Generally the application dates for Early Decision and Early Action are by November 1st

  • Regular Decision- set deadline

  • Rolling Admission – no set deadline, but the earlier the better

  • FAFSA filing is available as of October 1
  • Check each college website for FAFSA deadlines
  • CSS Profile/Financial Aid form-Some schools require this form to be filled out. Deadline is early so make sure to review each colleges requirements

Non-Common Application Schools

  • You do not need to match to Common App in Naviance
  • You must still list this school in Naviance- We use Naviance to get all of your high school information to all of your colleges
  • You need to include the school on your transcript request form

-Write counselor letter of recommendation(if needed) and send to Colleges via Naviance

-Send transcripts to schools with updates being sent at each marking period
