Intentional Focus Groups

We led approximately 35 Focus Groups in order to include feedback from a wide range of stakeholder groups:

    • Educators
    • Administrators
    • Students
    • Parents
    • Faith Leaders
    • Business Leaders
    • Community Members
    • Elected Officials

Qualitative Surveys

To ensure broader engagement across stakeholder groups, the division also pushed out a qualitative survey directly to various stakeholder groups:

    • Parents
    • Staff
    • Students (Grades 6-12)
    • Broad Community (Generic Link)

All surveys were readily accessible in 4 different languages.

Through both approaches, we were able to capture feedback from more than 10,000 community members.

Consolidating the Feedback

  • Through qualitative methodology we identified key themes.
  • We used the data to identify that:
    • the community had a number of areas of commonality
    • many of the concepts of the current strategic plan continued to be supported by the community, while also providing areas in which we can build and grow.

Communicating the Path to #ElevateStafford

13

1. Intentionally seeking to visually represent concepts.

E.g., the section header slides are designed to visually illustrate the concept of moving forward and upward as a division.

2. Ensuring the Values, Vision, and Mission are memorable and reinforced throughout the division through posters, embedding on other communication tools.

E.g., redesign of SIP plan to align and reinforce values, vision and mission.

3. Ensuring consistent language to reinforce concepts.

E.g., adopting the hashtag #ElevateStafford

4. Planning a division-wide convocation, to fully engage and onboard staff to the updated strategic plan.

Remembering What is Essential

Throughout the process, the focus groups, qualitative surveys, and school board work sessions have provided the opportunity for the division to remember what is most important in providing high quality educational experiences.

Community members unanimously stressed the need to ensure students were engaged in real world experiences, building their C5W skills.
