INTRODUCTION

The main purpose of designing this project is to prevent loss of current unnecessarily during day time During night the bulb will automatically glow.

Because of these facts, this aumatic light control system was to be implemented as a project. The system is constructed using LDR for controlling intensity of light and a motion sensor PIR for detection the body heat of humans. When somebody is in the room, which detected by PIR sensor, the controlled system automatically switch on the light and some electronic device, but if the room is empty, the lighting system and any power switch will be closed up automatically.

Literature Review

Controlling lighting system using LDR and PIR motion sensor using Arduino together is new concept analyzing many research paper and study which were related to the automatic light control system I found the there are papers that only consider one sensor it may be led or pir motion sensor but combining both sensors to make such a system Which can control light by detecting human presence and night intensity is new.so we can rarely find research work on LDR and PIR sensor with Arduino/Microcontroller.

Arduino uno

Arduino uno Discription

  • Arduino uno is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega328P.

  • It has 14 digital input/output pins(of which 6 can be used as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz ceramic resonator, a power jack, an ICSP header and a reset button.

  • Flash Memory: 32 KB of which 0.5 KB used by bootloader

  • Length : 68.6 mm

  • Clock Speed: 16 Mhz

PIR Sensor Discription

PIR SENSOR

PIR SENSOR

  • PIR sensor is a passive sensor abbrevated as pyroelectric infrared sensor.

  • A pyroelectric infrared sensor (PIR sensor) is an electronic sensor that measures infrared (IR) light radiating from objects in its field of view.

  • They are most often used in PIR-based motion detectors.

  • It is important to note that PIR sensors don't detect or measure"heat" instead they detect the radiation from an object.

MOSFET Discription

MOSFET

  • IRF540 is an N-Channel powered MOSFET used for very fast switching operations as well as for amplification processes.

  • It operates in enhancement mode.

  • It has a lot of applications in daily life for example, switching regulators, relay drivers, switching converters, motor drivers, high speed power switching drivers etc.

  • IRF 540 has three pins in total named as:

1.Gate 2. Source 3.Drain

LDR SenSor Discription

  • Sensitivity depends on intensity of light.

  • Resistance of LDR decrease with increase in intensity of light and vice-versa.

Resistor

  • It is a passive component having two terminals that are used to manage the current flow in the circuit.

  • A current that flows via a resistor is directly proportional tothe voltage that appeared into resistor.

ADVANTAGES

  1. AdvantageThe circuit required power supply for operation is very less (12V/5V 250mAh).
  2. To Components required for this hardware is easily available in market as well in rate.
  3. Circuit is compact in size so small space is required.
  4. Circuit can implement fully automated with few modifications in software/hw.

APPLICATIONS

  1. It is used industries as automatic light controller .
  2. It Can be used in streetlight and porch light control automatically.

Conclusion

From the proposed system we can conclude that an approch is taken to control the room light using various devices. As nowadays enormous amount of energy is wasted in daily life with the help of this system the energy wastage can be preserved and can be contribute to large amount of power saving the total effective cost of system is very less.
