1. Analog multimeter Analog multimeters are electrical test instruments which are used to measure voltage, current, resistance, frequency and signal power. Analog multimeters use a needle along a scale. Switched range analog multimeters are very cheap but are difficult for beginners to read accurately, especially on resistance scales.
2. Digital multimeter Digital multimeters are measuring instruments that can measure quantities such as voltage, current, and resistance. Measured values are shown on a digital display, allowing them to be read easily and directly, even by first-time users.
Use of MULTI METER
A multimeter is a measurement device used to measure multiple electrical values. Multimeters can measure voltage, current, resistance, and (sometimes) test for continuity.
Advantage of MULTI METER
• High accuracy.
• High input impedance so there is no effect for loading.A clear reading at higher viewing distances can be obtained.
• The electrical output can be used to interface with additional equipment.
• These are less costly due to the integrated technology.

• It is more expensive than the analog type.
