You are going to make a vending machine similar to the one in this video.

  • Watch the video to see how it works

This is the plan for the parts for the vending machine you are going to make.

  • Click on the image to be taken to a copy of the file
  • Print it off
  • Cut out each of the shapes, leave a little bit of white paper around each shape, we will trim accurately later
  • Glue the shapes onto some thick cardboard (The measurements here are based on card that is 4mm thick, you will need to adapt this plan if your card is thicker or thinner.)
  • Carefully and accurately cut out each of the shapes. NOTE: The white shapes are holes and they need to be cut out accurately too! Also note that the red shapes are for part II of this project and can be ignored at this time.

You now have to assemble the parts so that you end up with a vending machine that looks like the one in this video...

It will be a good idea to “dry fit” your parts together before you glue them, so that you understand what order the parts should be glued together. Watching the first video might help to!

Now that you have built and tested your vending machine, it is time to build a lid and container in which to store your treats. You will need to:

  • Click on the image, download and print off the template
  • Cut out the shapes, stick them to thick cardboard
  • Cut the card to shape
  • Cut up one clear document wallet to make the clear sides to the container
  • Use one satay skewer as a hinge for the lid (pass it through the tubes of the cardboard and glue it in place)

Your completed cardboard vending machine should look something like this:
