1.POINT GUARD:

  • Point guards are very important in basketball,they are called the “court coaches” because their most important job is to create the play and direct the team.These are usually not so tall players and they must be really good shooters and must be able to do very precise passes.
  • The best point guard in history is Magic Johnson

2.Shooting Guards

  • The shooting guard is called as the number two player, The function of this player is to help the Point Guard when he is attacking, with the controlled ball, also he throw long-distance shots, especially those that are shots from behind the three-point line . The shooting guard must be skillful, fast play.
  • The best shooting guard is Michael Jordan, also he is the best basketball player in the history.

3.Small Forward

  • The small forwards are responsible for scoring points, defending and often as secondary or tertiary rebounders behind the power forward and center, although a few have considerable passing responsibilities. Many small forwards in professional basketball are prolific scorers.
  • The best player in this position is LeBron James

4.POWER FORWARD:

  • Also called the second center,the main role of this player consists in shooting near the zone or penetrate to the basket,the may not be the tallest of the team but the need to be pretty tall to play near the basket.
  • Tim Duncan has been the best player in this position historically.

5.CENTER:

The tallest players in the team, playing in positions close to the hoop,both in attack and defense. His main role within the team is to take the rebound in both baskets, and intimidation in defense.

The best player in this position has been Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

The other best shooting guard in history is Kobe Bryant also called “The Black Mamba” who we sadly have recently lost,as he would have said “Mamba Out”

Pick and pop:

This consists in a normal pick and roll,but instead of going for a layup you must give a pass backwards to your teammate

Pick and roll:

The pick and roll is an offensive basketball play in which a player(offensive) makes a block to an opponent so a teammate can slips behind the defender to receive a pass and if it is possible he can throw to the basket.

BACKDOOR:

An offensive tactic whereby a player makes a fake of going backwards but instead he goes straight to the basket to receive the pass and do a layup

Screen:

This tactic consists in doing a pick and roll to make some time for your teammate to take the shot.
