Mini Grant

Minimum of 2 years membership by June 1 of current year
Actively teaching or currently employed in an education position
Attend a professional conference or workshop, conduct research activities on a topic of professional interest
How will you “give back?” (Idea: present a chapter or state workshop)
Expected to be an active member and remain one!
A recipient cannot receive a state scholarship and/or mini-grant for more than two years in succession.
Applicants may apply for an additional scholarship and/or mini-grant after a lapse of one (1) year.
A recipient may accept a State monetary award and an International Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship for the same fiscal year.

Life-Long Learner Scholarship

Up to $1,000 for organized, continuing, adult education opportunities (Road Scholar, Go Ahead Tours, On-line Learning, Continuing Education courses)
Must be a member for ten (10) years or more
Active in your chapter and beyond (State and International)
This is not for a vacation. There is also an obligation to do something with the knowledge you’ve gained once you return.
A recipient cannot receive a state scholarship for more than two (2) years in succession. Applicants may apply for an additional scholarship after a lapse of one (1) year.
A recipient may accept a State monetary award and an International Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship for the same fiscal year).
DKG sponsored events will NOT be funded. This includes ASTEF Travel, International Conventions & conferences, etc.

3, 6, and 9 Hr. Scholarship for advanced degrees

For campus-based University

Apply and register
Create your plan of action
Determine your needs across time
Check the Guidelines
Apply for the appropriate scholarship

For an on-line degree from an on-line university

Apply and register
Possibly participate in a Cohort
Explore a condensed degree plan or additional certification
Include necessary documents

Doctoral Scholarship

Minimum of 3 years DKG membership prior to June 1 of current year
Receive up to $7,500
Register in at least 9 hours course work or dissertation for two (2) semesters to receive the entire amount.
Must have completed a minimum of 18 hours towards the doctorate by the first summer term of the year of application
Unofficial transcripts are ok to submit as documentation of completed coursework
A recipient cannot receive a state scholarship for more than two years in succession.
Applicants may apply for an additional scholarship after a lapse of one (1) year.
A recipient may accept a State monetary award and an International Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship for the same fiscal year

HELPFUL TIPS: To gain as much funding as possible for a doctoral degree

When first beginning, apply for a 6 or 9 hour scholarship
This will help fund your program while you are gaining the required criteria (18 hours)
Do this for two (2) years
Lay out one (1) year– required of all scholarships! If you meet the criteria, apply for International.
Next, apply for the state doctoral scholarship (if you have the 18 hours)

This can be applied to coursework and/or dissertation
Do this for two (2) years
Still have work to do, apply for an International $10,000 Scholarship.

Maetha Weatherby Educational Travel

Must be a member for ten (10) years prior to June 1
Applicant must have attended at least one (1) TSO Convention
Provides up to $1,500 which must be matched by applicant
To support educational travel related to current field of educational work assignment
Travel must have an educational purpose where learning acquired will be incorporated into the applicant’s educational setting and used to enhance curriculum
Proceeds from the Weatherby travel scholarship may not be used in combination with other TSO/ASTEF or International Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship activities.

Applications

READ the guidelines carefully
Gather all necessary documentation
Initiation? Induction? Join date = when your treasurer enters the member in the system
Be specific in your goals, purpose, and justification
Be specific in your request for a letter of recommendation about what is expected
Write clearly and concisely
Be CLEAR about the budget (registration fee, transportation/airfare costs, meals, rental car, other specific expenditures)
Educational vs. personal travel requests – how will you give back to DKG?
Proofread your application
Submit all documents by deadline (check guidelines for specific deadlines)
Make sure you have all the necessary original signatures

Yes, there is $90.00 participant fee. Also participants are responsible for travel to seminar location.

If you applied previously and was not selected, you are strongly encouraged to submit another application.
Restrictions - Members who have attended Golden Gift or Ignite are not eligible.
