When They Are Cut

 To "cut" means to divide a solid material into pieces.

              What do you think will happen, when solid materials are cut?

Any objects or solid materials are subjected to change in  2 aspects when Cut. These are:

1. Change in Shape

                 Solid materials change in shape, meaning from it's original or normal form into broken pieces when cut.

2. Change in Size

When solid materials are cut, they change in size. They become smaller or tiny than their original size.

Does "ALL" these solid materials are easily cut?

What objects that cannot be cut with a simple scissors? What can cut them?

Generalization & Application

• "Not all" solid materials are can be cut using simple scissors.  Some solid materials, like iron, steel and other objects can be cut using sophisticated cutters like machine cutters.

• Solid materials can be cut.  When cut, these materials change their size and shape, but no new material is formed.  Hence, only the physical appearance of the solid material is changed when cut.

Dress makers use big and sharp scissors to be able to cut clothes. Jewelry makers use special cutters to cut metals and stones like diamonds to be able to make pieces of jewelry. Welding shops also use different cutters for iron and nickel. 

If you are in one of those jobs or work, how can you protect yourself from accident or getting hurt?

Yes, you're right! 

Use the scissor carefully and hold the material you are cutting to avoid it from falling.
