New York Stories: The Lenape people of Manahatta
A steady pulse that you feel in music.
It is present in music from every corner of the globe and the music of the Lenape people.
It is a driving force that is omnipresent.
WHAT IS A BEAT?
New York Stories: The Lenape people of Manahatta
Divide into pairs or small groups to practice keeping a beat by counting aloud as you clap: 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4.
Once you establish a beat, we will try a different ‘tempo.’
If you are a multilingual student, you can clap while counting in another language.
Create a one minute video performance.
Have one student introduce the performance with facts from your Manhattan travels before the whole class performs as an ensemble.
