Graduation Credit Requirements

  • Students need 28 total credits to graduate.
  • Each course equals 1 credit (some courses may count as two).
  • Promotion to sophomore year requires 6 credits and passing English I.

Mathematics Requirements

  • Students must earn four math credits.
  • Typical sequence: Foundations of Math, Math 1, Math II, and Math II Honors.

English Requirements

  • Students must complete English 1, II, III, and IV.
  • Honors options are available for English 1 and II.

Science Requirements

  • Students must earn three science credits.
  • Courses include Physical Science, Earth and Environmental Science Honors, and AP options later.

Social Studies Requirements

  • Students must earn four social studies credits.
  • Courses include World History, Honors World History, and AP Human Geography.

Health and Physical Education

  • Health and PE is required for all freshmen and is a graduation requirement.
  • Courses are co-educational.

Elective Requirements

  • Students must complete twelve elective credits.
  • Students must also select an elective concentration area.

Elective Concentration Areas

  • Options include Career and Technical Education, World Languages, Fine Arts, NJ ROTC, and Physical Education/Weights.

Fine Arts Concentration

  • Students must take four arts courses, with two in the same discipline.
  • Options include Band, Chorus, Theater, and Visual Arts.

World Languages

  • World languages are not required for graduation.
  • However, two courses in the same language are needed for four-year college admission.

NJ ROTC Program

  • Students need four NJ ROTC courses to complete a concentration.
  • Students may take one ROTC course each semester.

Career and Technical Education (CTE)

  • Students complete two or three CTE courses, including two in the same cluster.
  • This pathway prepares students for WorkKeys testing in senior year.

CTE Course Pathways

  • Examples: Animal Science, Computer Science, Drafting, Health Science, Marketing, Welding, Woodworking, and Horticulture.

Alternate Course Selections

  • Students must select four alternate courses in case schedule changes are needed.

Sample Standard Course Schedule

  • Fall: English 1, Health and PE, Foundations of Math 1, Metals 1.
  • Spring: Math 1, Concert Choir, Physical Science, World History.

Sample Honors Course Schedule

  • Fall: Honors English 1, ROTC, Honors Math 1, Health and PE.
  • Spring: Honors World History, Horticulture 1, Earth and Environmental Science Honors, Spanish 1.

Schedule Changes

  • Schedules are built based on course selections.
  • Changes occur only in extenuating circumstances during mid-August through the counselor.
