High School Transition Programs

Concurrent Enrollment: This enrichment program is designed to provide high school students (9th-12th grade) the opportunity to enroll in college courses (up to 11.5 units) at Skyline for free! High school students can receive college credit for coursework successfully completed.

Dual Enrollment Program: Dual Enrollment is a partnership program with our local high schools and allow students (9th-12th grade) to enroll in college courses, generally offered at the high school sites. Similar to the concurrent enrollment program, students can receive college credit for coursework successfully completed while fulfilling high school requirements.

Middle College: Our Middle College program is an alternative education program that allows students to complete their last two years of high school requirements and begin earning college credits while enrolled in college courses on the Skyline College campus.

JumpStart Program: Available for upcoming 11th or 12th grader that needs to recover credits for high school. Upgrade your Math & English skills, recover credits, and earn college credits over the summer.

It is designed to provide current high school students the opportunity to get an “early start” on their college experience.

    • Discuss appropriate courses to take
    • Determine if your course has a prerequisite
      • Determine if you need to complete the placement process
    • Ask questions!

Choosing Classes

Status: The number of seats available in the course. Once a course is full a waitlist will open.

CRN: The course code needed to complete the College Connection Form and to Register. Take a note of the CRNs of the course interested in taking.

Course Title: Course Title: Name of the course.

Choosing Classes

Units: Number of units for the course. Remember, Concurrent Enrollment students can only take up to 11 units for free. If a student registers for more than 11 units, students are required to pay ALL registration.

College: The college teaching the course.

Instructional Method: In-person, Online (asynchronous or synchronous), Hybrid.

    • Check registration date via your my.smccd.edu or WebSMART account
    • Register for classes via WebSMART
      • If you waitlist a class, please keep an eye on your email! You have 24 hours to add class if you move up on waitlist.
    • Enrollment is Free!
      • Except for Materials Fee (if applicable), parking is free!
      • To avoid being dropped from your class, make sure you pay your Material Fees before your drop for non-payment deadline, which will emailed to you after registering for classes.

Dual Enrollment:

  • Classes are embedded within the high school day, with high school students
  • Eligible for both high school credit and college credits

A potential Middle College student:

  • Will be a Junior in good standing with a GPA of 2.0 or above
  • Has completed two years of math graduation requirement with a grade of "C" or higher
  • Is on track for graduation with a minimum 100 credits for a junior
  • May be talented/gifted but is not thriving in the traditional high school environment
  • Desires to complete high school and begin college courses
  • Demonstrates the maturity to cope with the challenges and relative freedom of a college environment
  • May show a discrepancy between standardized test scores and actual grades, indicating that she/he is not working up to potential
  • Has demonstrated appropriate, responsible and respectful behavior on the high school campus
  • Is a resident of either South San Francisco Unified School District or San Mateo High School Union School District

Jump Start Program

Designed for current high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors interested in attending college!

  • Jump Start is a six-week summer program designed to help high school students with college potential upgrade their skills in English, math, critical thinking, and college success skills.
  • Students will be concurrently enrolled at Skyline College, receiving college credit for the courses they take when they complete the program.
  • The program is held every summer, beginning in June and ending in July. Classes will be held Monday-Thursday from 9am-3pm and Fridays from 9am-12pm.

Jump Start Program

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a California Resident.
  • Must be enrolled at a North County high school as a Junior or Senior next Fall.
  • Should have a grade point average of 2.00 or below.
  • Must be nominated by a teacher, counselor, or school administrator

The Jump Start Program curriculum includes the following concurrent enrollment courses:

  • English 819 – 3.00 units of college credit
  • Math 819 – 3.00 units of college credit
  • Counseling 101 & Career 116 – 1.5 units of college credit
  • Learning Skills 800 – 0.5 unit of college credit

Each course is graded separately. In order to receive college credit, students need a grade of C or higher or a P (Pass).
