CORE VALUE: HONESTY & TRUTH

Truth lies at the heart of friendship and creates the foundation upon which trust and accountability are built.

Honesty or truthfulness is a facet of moral character that connotes positive and virtuous attributes such as integrity, truthfulness, straightforwardness (including straightforwardness of conduct: earnestness), along with the absence of lying, cheating, theft, etc.

Truth is the quality of being true, or in agreement with reality or fact. It can also refer to a statement that is true or accepted.

Examples of truth

  • A proven or verified statement, such as a scientific fact
  • A faithful reproduction or portrayal, such as a portrait
  • An obvious fact, such as a truism or platitude

SCENARIO 1

Link Tanya has been a member of XYZ Chapter for more than 10 years. Her BFF, Jasmine, is not a member but Link Tanya has always dreamed that they would both be Links and travel to Area Conferences and National Assemblies together. Five years ago, the last time the Chapter invited new members, Link Tanya nominated Jasmine but Jasmine lives outside XYZ Chapter’s service area and could not be issued an invitation. This year, Link Tanya believes she has found the perfect workaround so that she and Jasmine can finally be in the same Links Chapter. Link Tanya nominated Jasmine but listed the address of a friend, Rosie, as Jasmine’s address. Rosie lives within the Chapter’s approved area but Jasmine does not. Rosie happens to attend the same church as the Chapter VP, Link Bianca, and they frequently carpool together so the VP is familiar with the address. When Link Bianca is reviewing the nomination forms but before the chapter vote, she recognizes Rosie’s address.

What should Link Bianca do? What about Link Tanya?
