Spectator areas

  • Stands, Concession stand, eating areas, etc.
  • Just like attending sporting events
  • Most spectators (parents, supporters) should spend most of their time in these areas.
  • You are representing our team at all times, be kind, help when you can.

Pit Area (The Pits)

  • Where teams work on their robots - Roughly 10ft x 10ft area
  • Anyone may enter the pits as long as they follow a few rules like having closed toe shoes and safety glasses
  • Each team may organize and decorate their pit as they like.

Volunteer Areas

  • Unless you are a volunteer or have a good reason you shouldn’t enter these marked areas
  • Volunteer Lounge
    • Where volunteers eat meals and snacks.
    • Also a break room for volunteers
  • Judge Rooms
    • Where certain award presentations happen
      • Presenting for an award is one of the reasons to enter these areas
    • Where the judges deliberate about which teams will win which awards.

Pit etiquette

  • Don’t block the aisles, robots and drive teams have to get through.
  • Engage with teams but respect their time and space
    • Ask questions, compliment their robots
    • If they are look very busy leave them be unless it’s important
    • Don’t loiter near other team’s pit space, don’t enter their pit when it’s unattended, don’t touch items in other people’s pits without permission.
  • You are representing our team at all times, be kind, help when you can.

Arena

  • The arena is largely restricted to volunteers and badged team members (drive team and one media badge for most events)
  • Game field
    • Where the robots compete
  • Queuing Area
    • Where the robot queue (wait in line) and prepare for their matches
