What is Climate YES?

Climate YES is a global ecumenical movement of young activists from around the world working together for Climate Justice guided by the common bond of our faith.

Climate YES Launched on September 17, 2022

took place in five regional hubs; the United Kingdom, Italy, Kenya, South Africa, and Malawi. The five regional hubs were linked together through hybrid interactions.

Climate YES is led by the Steering Committee drawn from the Regional Hubs that coordinates the work of Climate YES.

PAST ACTIVITIES

  • Kenya: Webinar

A webinar on the effects of Climate Change, mitigation, and Adaptation was held on March 30, 2023

  • Uganda: Tree planting and Training of Trainers.

-A forest of 500 indigenous trees was planted on church land in Masulita Parish, Namirembe Diocese on 30th April 2023.

-A training of trainers workshop for young leaders in Uganda was convened on 19th August 2023.

  • South Africa: Webinar.

-A webinar on effects of Climate Change on Gender-Based Violence was held on 16 February 2023.

  • Lesotho: Ecumenical Walk, local ecology discussions, meditation, and prayer was held

PAST ACTIVITIES

  • Zambia - our members through the Zambia youth environmental network participated in the launch of the Tearfund Rubbish Campaign on the 1st march of 2023.
  • Malawi - our members through the Malawi Creation Care Network participated in the launch of Malawi Church and Community transformation on the 2nd February 2023
  • Malawi and Zambia- Webinar Collaboration on Plastic Free July held on 31st July 2023
  • United Kingdom- Service at the ‘Big One’ Extinction Rebellion Protest in London was held on 25th April 2023 during ‘Take the Veg Pledge week 5-11th June encouraging Christians in the UK to adopt climate-friendly diets.
