Transition Planning Activity!
Meet the Students!
Spencer is a 9th grade student. She has autism, and she has an IEP in place to address her severely impacted social skills.
Spencer’s parents are supportive when she needs them, but they are not sure about how to push her out of her comfort zone, and make her interact with people in a social manner.
Sara is a 10th grade student, she has a specific learning disability which impacts her reading and reading comprehension.
Sara has home and community support, she really wants to go to college. She is working hard to develop her skills so she can work in healthcare.
Meet the Students!
Jenny is an 11th grader. She is receiving services as a student in the OHI category. Her diagnosis are OCD, Anxiety, & ADHD, she is taking a time release medicine for ADHD.
She wants to move to LA when she graduates, she is currently very focused on graduating, but she has no idea what she wants to do for work when she moves to LA.
Matthew is a senior. He plans to graduate and move to Akiak to be with his grandmother. He is looking forward to hunting when he gets there. He has mentioned working for the post office sometimes.
Matthew is resistant to talking about getting a job, because he does not think he will be able to get a job in Akiak.
Meet the Students!
Jim is an 11th grader. When he graduates, he wants to work at the local comic book store. He is not interested in any training post school, and he has been resistant to talk about even on the job training.
Jim is receiving services as a student with a learning disability, which seems to make him resistant to anything learning related in his life.
Adrian is a 9th grader, he is cognitively impaired, and he has very limited family support. Adrian would love to have a job when he is older.
Adrian is going to need a lot of support, and finding the right support in the community will benefit him.

Michael is a 10th grader, he is a resource student who has a dream to go to college.
Michael is determined to attend a college program, even though he may face a lot of challenges for him.
Tabitha is a 12th grader. She is a student who struggles to read, but she would like to go to work. She is interested in an apprenticeship or some other form of on the job training.
Tabitha is not sure what field she is interested in, but she is willing to explore different options as long as she can be outside doing physical work.
