My Role

  • Oversee social and cultural activities within the EUS
  • Contribute to the development of events policy and guidance
  • Coordinate graduation events

My Committees

MERTW(inter)

  • Organizes a bi-annual pub-crawl event open to all engineering students/friengineers
  • Committee of ~10 coordinators, with 1-2 chiefs and the VP Events
  • Events normally occur in October and February

EAC

  • Responsible for primarily non-drinking/wholesome programming and events
  • Run by a small but enthusiastic group of volunteers
  • Events in the past have included movie nights, apple picking, chicken nugget power hour, and more…

ESC

  • Responsible for regular social programming, often including night-events
  • Frequently collaborates with other faculties, for example EUS x NUS power hour
  • Has not been active since 2018 (more on that later)

Ski Trip

  • Coordinates an annual ski trip open to EUS members and friengineers
  • The trip typically occurs the weekend after E-Week in January
  • This year they will be going in March, to Mont-Sainte-Anne

Graduation Committee

  • Responsible for all EUS programming relating to graduating students
  • Typically this includes several wine and cheese events run throughout the year, and a Plumbers Ball in the spring
  • Programming is targeted towards students graduating in the current academic year

EUS Sports

  • Promotes physical activity and well-being among EUS students
  • Normally runs two leagues each year, flag football in the fall and broomball in the winter
  • Assists with the funding and operation of the Iron Rink on lower field RIP :(

Other Responsibilities

  • Close collaboration with the VP Student life on EUS Conference, as well as a bi-annual involvement day
  • Execution of an annual year-end volunteer banquet for EUS volunteers
  • Sits on the EUS executive committee

Plans for the rest of my term

  • Support the events program through a rapidly changing pandemic climate
  • Design initiatives to facilitate collaboration for smaller events among departments, clubs and committees
  • Successfully transition a new VP Events into the role, having laid the groundwork for the position

Some notes on the split

  • Workload is occasionally heavy, but seemed manageable when compared to other positions
  • Room for future expansion in terms of future scope and responsibility
  • Potential for new projects/committees
