Also known as a full-stop. This goes at the end of each sentence, showing that it is a full sentence. It can also be used as in abbreviations.

Examples of how full-stops are used:

I went to the shops in the weekend and spent all of my money. (At the end of the sentence)

My initials are S.L.T. (For abbreviations and at the end of the sentence)

Commas are used to list things in a sentence, separate nouns, and also used before a conjunction in a compound sentence.

Examples of how commas are used:

For lunch today I have a sandwich, apple, mandarin and a bar. (used to list items)

The player, Shaun Johnson, kicked the ball. (separating nouns)

I went to the shop to buy me food, and my Mum gave me some more money. (to indicate someone’s possession)

Capital letters are used to start a sentence. They are also used to indicate proper nouns such as places, days, months and much more.

Examples of how commas are used:

For lunch today I have a sandwich, apple, mandarin and a bar. (at the start of each sentence)

The player, Shaun Johnson, kicked it high. (for someone’s name)

I can’t wait to go back to Point England School in February. I’m so excited. (to indicate a proper nouns)
