SURVEY

  • According to the Tamil Nadu government, 64,583 sanitary workers are employed with 15 corporations, 121 municipalities, 528 town panchayats, and 12,525 village panchayats in the state.

  • According to other sanitary workers in Chennai, atleast 100 sanitary workers in the city may have been infected with COVID-19. “As many as 70 sanitary workers were infected with COVID-19 only in Pullianthoppe area in Chennai,” said a sanitary worker in Chennai.

  • Around 30% of the workers have been infected with COVID-19 and none of them have received any financial assistance from the government.

To dispose used masks by disinfecting them with ordinary bleach solution (5% w/v ) or sodium hypo-chlorite solution (1% v/v).

Either by burning or deep burial (incinerated or buried at a depth of at least 10 feet from the Earth’s surface in order to prevent infection.)
