What is Thanksgiving?
People come together to give thanks for the good things in life, especially family and friends. This holiday usually happens in November in the U.S. and October in Canada.

When it
began?
The tradition started in 1620 when a group of Englishmen called Pilgrims left England in a ship called Mayflower.

The voyage was not easy, they were cold and hungry, and many of them didn’t make it.

It took them 65 days before they reach the north-east coast of Northern America which is known as Massachussetts now.

It was winter when they arrived so they didn’t have the time to grow crops. The winter was long so only a few of them survived.
