Where did you begin?

At the beginning of your fellowship, what were your top three learning goals?

  1. Goal 1 - Support OCL team to improve Term Browser (Progress)
  2. Goal 2- Represent OpenMRS user in OCL and address their issues and concerns(Progress)
  3. Goal 3- ANC DAK :work closely with designer and developers

Lessons Learned

What challenges did you encounter during your fellowship?

  • inter-organization dependency and waiting for features from another organization
  • time difference to schedule meeting and delayed response
  • Advocating for OCL over DM

How did you overcome these challenges?

  • Continuous communication- follow up through mails
  • joining almost all OCL meetings,
  • bringing up roadmap and user priorities time and again and advocating for OCL

What did you learn from them?

  • Continuous effort can make changes

    • Attending calls- WHO smart Implementer’s call
    • Working to implement the O3 Qnrs and Codes in OCL for the Preeclampsia Care Plan
  • Dictionary Manager wiki
  • Represent OpenMRS priorities among OCL team, confirm the desired work, currently working on quick add mappings features
  • Attending different calls: OHIE calls, design and dev calls, design sprint and will contribute as a sprint leader too
  • Support in design review for help text and quick mappings
  • Work closely with Joe in strengthening OCL and OCL for OpenMRS
    • Have regular biweekly calls with Joe-
      • discuss on priorities
      • together build the roadmap
      • discuss on utilizing squad call time
    • Worked with Joe on a Workflow comparison video, between Dictionary Manager and OCL term browser and proposed a workflow for easy content management in OCL and now working in the direction
    • Reviewing Joe’s new features video, receiving feedback from users and understanding user-stories for features
