  • Individual meetings with your counselor will be between Feb. 20 – Feb. 27
  • MUST HAVE 6 CLASSES SELECTED
  • Athletes – please choose Athletics (#1635) and not your specific sport

Course Selection Requirements

As rising juniors update their academic plan:

  1. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 periods/classes.
  2. Due to SB328, zero period doesn’t count towards instructional minutes so 4 of 5 periods must be in the regular 1st-6th pd bell schedule
  3. May be denied 0 pd request due to attendance
  4. 7 period days limited to following programs: ASB, Yearbook, AVID, Instrumental Music, or Early College.
  5. Upper level Choir, Drama, & Art have an audition/portfolio review in March to have 7 period day.
  6. Healthy limits for H/AP/College courses is 4, 5 with a waiver.
  7. Any class that is above and beyond the graduation requirements will be considered an ‘elective’ for meeting the 230 total credits requirement.
  8. For pathway electives, priority goes to students who will complete the pathway.

The end goal? A career.

  • The jobs of the past are becoming obsolete or changing in ways that require introspection. The future for our students is not as clear as it what for us. Advancements in all job areas mean that the world of work is changing at a very fast pace, and students need to have the skills necessary to pivot into new directions. Work with your students to research current career outlooks and projections. Try to find meaningful internships or volunteer experiences through family or work connections. Don’t be afraid to dream…many future jobs have not been created, explored or considered yet as the technology may not support the idea behind the possibility. That will change in time. Be aware and be ready.
