New Curriculum Implementation and Pedagogical Framework

Integrated approach to learning and literacy as a core competency.

Prioritise skill-based learning and differentiation to meet individual skill-based needs.

Data-driven practice for evaluating and planning curriculum implementation.

Expected Improvements

Single core resource, instead of multiple level resources per grade.

A fixed standard per grade to align horizontally with other EMI subjects.

A single differentiated resource for students that encourages continuous assessment of all student levels.

Analysis of course materials, assessment data and stakeholder consultation will help to better support decision making.

To better simplify, let’s take a closer look at the general principles of the new Curriculum Implementation framework and how the ESE plans to move this initial model forward.

(Animation# 1) Firstly, we aim to have a single scope and sequence for teaching and learning, along with a consistent curriculum across all cycles.

(Animation# 2) This will allow teachers to transition to a single, core resource – rather than multiple level resources per grade.

(Animation# 3) Moreover, there will be a more integrated approach to learning and literacy which will act as a core competency across the entire curriculum.

(Animation# 4) Having a fixed standard per grade will align horizontally with other EMI subjects. Going forward, there may also be an additional resource focusing on foundational literacy in Cycle 1. More details about this will follow later once fully approved.

(Animation# 5) The data has revealed the need to fully prioritise skill-based learning, with an emphasis on differentiation to better meet the needs of individual students. The common expectation will be to support all students in achieving their independent learning goals.

(Animation# 6) A singleresource will further encourage continuous assessment of student levels, standardise differentiation practices, as well as accommodate supplementary resources necessary for supporting a student-centred learning environment.

(Animation# 7) And lastly, the new aims also seek to incorporate data-driven practices for evaluating and planning curriculum implementation.

(Animation# 8) Steps have been taken to fully analyse course materials for students. This in turn, will better facilitate data-driven decision making.
