Mapping Space Trash in Real Time

Team Marvel

NASA reported that the estimated weight of the debris alone present in the inner space or the Low Earth Orbit could be almost 6000 tonnes.

Problems faced in existing system

  1. Space debris could not just affect the navigation hazards for the astronauts and being an obstacle, instead it can also reflect the sunlight down back to the Earth’s surface
  2. This debris could collide with the existing space station & satellites which can be dangerous.
  3. Astronaut have to perform special maneover task to overcome these space colliadal.
  4. The small debris cannot be tracked from the earth which make it hard to eliminate.
  5. The net catching method of debris cannot catch small debris.

Ideas!

  • Firstly, we could collect the debris together using electromagnetic force.

  • These debris can be treated with some chemical or laser which will convert these metal pieces into nano particles.

  • Once the debris is converted to nano particles, it will not damage other space ships and they will be safe.

  • Also, we can track the speed of these debris using various sensors and radars.

  • Doing this we can prevent future colloidal by reducing the speed of these debris.

  • We can have a track the debris with their speed and size.
