New university events added to UniTasterDays during the Easter break include subject tasters from Falmouth University and Liverpool John Moores University. Online summer schools from Royal Veterinary College and the University of Leeds. As well as new events for schools making bookings for school groups from Queen Mary University of London and the University of Kent.

Loughborough University - Engineering Experience 2021

The Engineering Experience residential at Loughborough will be a free, virtual event this year.

Who is the event for:

Year 12 students.

The event is aimed at students who are considering studying engineering at degree level, whether they know exactly what they want to do or are just wondering if engineering might be a possibility for them.

When will the event run:

28th June – 4th July 2021

What will the event offer:

  • A series of live sessions with engineering professional, academics and researchers and alumni looking at why engineering matters and their own career paths.
  • A wealth of material about engineering degrees, how to apply and what you might study.
  • A project aimed at helping you prepare to study at HE level.
  • Conversations with current engineering students to find out what its like to be a student, go on placement, apply for jobs, live in Loughborough.

Many of the live sessions will run outside of school / college hours so you can sign up to attend the ones of most interest to you. tLive sessions will be recorded anyway for use beyond their timeslot.

Considering university as your next step? – a joint conference

The Universities of Bath, Cardiff, Exeter, Lancaster and Warwick are hosting a series of online conferences aimed at providing information, advice and guidance on what is available and how to apply. Join us on Saturday 24th April and Saturday 8th May where there will be a series of talks from each university on a range of topics. The April date will focus on areas such as applying to a competitive university, the UCAS Process, choosing a course, personal statements and how to make the most of virtual open days, and the May date will have a range of subject talks to give you an insight into a variety of university courses. Places can be booked here.

In addition to the above, our popular Discover Cardiff series will continue to run until the end of June with a range of talks including ‘A parent and guardian’s guide to higher education’ and student-led webinar on ‘Advice for settling into university’.

Finally, our next Virtual Open Day takes place on Wednesday 21 April, between 4pm and 7pm, allowing prospective students and their parents to find out more about Cardiff from the comfort of their own home.

Taster lectures are a chance for you to see what it’s like to study a subject at university.

Maybe you’re still considering your options, or you want to find out what your chosen subject is like beyond sixth form or college.

They’re also a great way to demonstrate your interest in a subject, develop your knowledge and prepare for university.

UEA are running a programme of taster lectures throughout the summer term, in a whole range of subjects.

The Young Professional: Journey to Work course is Ideal for 17+ year olds and young people who are closer to the world of work.

Young people are able to share their progress with you and receive certificates for every course they complete. Find out more here

This interactive programme consists of a series of short videos that cover a range of work related learning and career topics, the series allows young people to explore the world of work and opens their eyes to a range of opportunities available to them.

Following each video is a set of activities to be completed by the learner which aims to build on their knowledge and understanding.
