Artist’s Statement
2025 is the Year of the Snake in the lunar calendar, and I wanted to create an art piece which feels more lifelike and connects to the natural world. My artwork features two snakes made from eggshells, I wanted to emphasize how something delicate can also hold power and resilience, much like the snakes themselves. When eggshells are pressed down on a flat surface, the rough texture mimics the scales of the snakes. My artwork also reflects the theme of renewal, just like a snake's ability to shed its skin, and symbol of healing love, which matches the cultural significance of the Year of the Snake.
