Thesis Paragraph in 2 simple steps:

  1. Write a specific thesis on one of the given topics.

EX: Both Romantic and Realist writers examine humankind’s relationship with Nature. Romantic authors have a close, individual, almost religious relationship with the natural world, while Realists focus more on how humanity as a whole uses Nature.

B. Introduce the literary works that you will write about, giving authors and titles and

making the connection between these texts and your thesis.

EX: The poems “Sleeper in the Valley” and “Ophelia” by Arthur Rimbaud show this intense, close Romantic relationship to Nature, while Tolstoy’s story “How Much Land Does a Man Need?” looks at more of an economic and social side to man’s connection to Nature.

A+B = Your thesis paragraph, which will come directly after your Romanticism and Realism paragraphs that you’ve already written. Next, we will write body paragraphs about each of the works you’ve chosen here. That will be the bulk of your paper until a simple, short conclusion. So easy, right?
