What is a book ?
Its ..
..and
…and
But what if it’s…
an E-Book on an ereader?
Well yes, that’s still a book!
Or a PDF of a book on a website?
Or even…
...a single chapter of a book in a PDF format?
Yes, they are all books...just accessed differently!
Now,Go to your project dashboard
And click on sources
Now click on +( New sources)
Than choose how you accessed your book ! Mine is a print copy.
Now click on +( New sources)
Next you will be asked to click on the type of source you want to cite .in this case , it is a book.
Now it is time to find information you will need !
All citation for books need a minimum of 5 pieces of information :
1- Author
2- title
3- publisher
4-date of publication
5- place of publication ( not always needed )
Where do i find this information ? on the front cover ?
No !
Why not?
All the information may not be present and sometimes it is incorrect !
Where then ? start with the title page of the book !
Title
Author
Publisher
But what about the place of publication ?
Helps : there are two places named : Austin and New York !
You can choose the first of the two or you can check on the back of the title page to see if there is more information there !
On the back of the title page you will find ….
The copyright dates :
The place of publication :
The publisher :
Now that you have found all necessary information .
You are ready to fill in the form and create your citation!
This book is the print version ..
And it has both an author and an illustrator (photographer) you can use the drop down menu to change the role of the person .
Now for the rest of the information
Title
Date
Publisher
Place of publication
(not always needed )
But what does it mean if there are yellow box around the title ?
There is a mistake in the capitalisation of the title .
Suggestions:
Check to be sure you aren’t capitalizing entire words (unless they are acronyms)
Happy with everything ?Now click on (save)
And you are done!
