Prepare for the PSAT���

This session will cover some basics about the PSAT test and have you check your login.

Please note, CollegeBoard requires login names to be student’s legal names.

To start, power off your Chromebook (hold down the power button). After a moment, turn it back on and do not log in.

While you do that, we will cover some information. This slideshow, with some added details, will be available to you after this session, if you want to go back and review any of the information.

PSAT Test Date

HBHS will take the PSAT on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 16

  • Students should report to their assigned room by 7:40 on test day (these rooms should be the same rooms you are in for the Digital Readiness Check)

  • Bring

○ CHARGER AND CHARGED CHROMEBOOK!!!!

○ Snacks

○ Water

○ Calculator (or there is one included in test)

  • Testing may go into Period 4 that day--you will have the opportunity to have lunch after the test

  • Scores are listed for release on November 7, subject to updates/changes

Testing Details

The test is digital and will require you to bring your school-issued Chromebook (fully charged) to the test.

Multistage Adaptive Testing

  • Two modules in each section (math=70 minutes, and reading & writing=64 minutes)
    • Module 1: Mix of easy, medium, hard questions

    • Module 2: students are given a mix of questions of varying difficulties based on performance in Module 1

Test Preview

  • After completing exam setup, take a test preview

  • Test preview = short set of questions to get a sense of how testing works in Bluebook

  • Try out the testing tools

  • Students do not get a score or

feedback on their answers,

it is to see the test set-up

Complete Readiness Check

  • After completing exam setup and taking the test preview, the readiness check is complete.

  • Students can take their tickets and later sign in to do a practice test, if they want. Students should keep their ticket in a safe location, as they are personalized. (A new ticket will be provided on test day.)

  • The ticket can be used to access mypractice.collegeboard.org to see their score on the practice test.

  • Practice tests are also available on the CollegeBoard website (see resources page)
