• Crimean Tatars, deported by Stalin in 1944, were not allowed to come back until 1990
• After annexation, leaders of Crimean Tatars are not allowed to come to Crimea!
• Among them, Mustafa Cemilev (Qirimoglu), who spent 15 years in Soviet prisons and then was head of Crimean Tatar Mejlis for 25 years
• 18 Crimean Tatars disappeared, Ukrainian citizens Nadia Savchenko, Oleg Sentsov are seized on Ukrainian territory and imprisoned in Russia

• Putin denied the involvement of Russian soldiers. He said it was Crimean ‘self-defense’ which bought ‘camouflages’ in the ‘department stores’

• However, a year later he openly recognized it in a documentary which aired on Russian TV: “The Russian Federation Sent to Crimea Detachments of Military Intelligence Directorate and Marines”.

Not a civil war – Russia’s ‘hybrid’ war against Ukraine

• Both Putin’s plans: A) to control the whole Ukraine, B) to split Ukraine - failed
• Pro-Russian forces (whose initial leaders were Russian citizens) control only 2% of Ukrainian territory and only with support of Russian regular troops
• “Separatists” in Scotland or Catalonia do not kill civilians and do not destroy their own economy
• Effective Ukrainian democracy is the main threat to Putin’s regime (Putin who have said he would resign in 2024)
