  • Unincorporated Joint Venture between the 5 universities in WA, The Kids, and WIRF

  • Multigenerational (Gen1; Gen2; Gen3; Gen0; Gen2B)

  • Over the last 35 years collected extensive data:

health, mental health, behaviour, environment, social, education, and work outcomes.

  • Rich data set with:
    • >30,000 phenotypic data points,
    • 30 million genetic data points,
    • >200,000 biosamples (blood, saliva, faeces, cord blood, baby teeth),
    • linked data to WA government sources.�
  • Over 800 publications utilising Raine Study data across multiple health domains

Why RAiD?

  • Able to capture the multi-institutional, multidisciplinary nature of the Raine Study.
  • Initially will use singular RAiD to capture all outputs, partner organisations, core research staff and collaborators.

  • Enhance discoverability of the Raine Study for researchers and possible partner organisations.
  • Provide a resource for policymakers to explore the wealth of Raine Study research output.

  • Demonstrate the extensive network of Raine Study research, with the possibility of minting future RAiDs for specific projects if needed.

AuScope is Australia’s provider of research infrastructure to the Earth and Geospatial

Science community.

Our tools, data, services and analytics enable scientists to understand Earth’s evolution through time, and explore how it may support growing human demands.

Downward-Looking Telescope

AuScope has an opportunity to enable national geoscience innovation via the Downward Looking Telescope (DLT) - An integrated and augmented capability, like a telescope that will allow researchers to ‘see’ into Earth rather than out into Space. With the DLT, researchers and applied scientists can capture, focus and analyse observational data.

Ultimately, researchers will be able to create a ‘digital twin’ of Earth, and understand how the Australian continent might service our growing minerals, water, energy and space needs in the decades ahead.

  • The AuScope RAiD Register is planned to go into operation in mid-2027.
  • Open questions
    • Who adds and who updates RAiD records?
    • How will the system interface with other information systems (CrossRef, DataCite, …)?
    • How will RAiD work for activities with many project partners?

  • Work will start with a scoping study.
  • The candidate software for the RAiD Register is CKAN.
  • CKAN was already used for the AuScope Data Repository, Sample Catalogue, and Instrument Register.
