Conclusion - Summary

  • Moving forward there will be one training program, merged under the SMART Certified Trainer umbrella. The SMART Training Center program will be eliminated.
  • The program will have new status levels based on key factors needed for scalable training. The high barrier to entry ($) will be removed. There will no longer be a requirement for a signed contract by organizations. The need for training sign in sheets will also be eliminated.
  • All SMART Certified Trainer candidates will be authorized by SMART. We encourage you to build in training services which prepare candidates for the online video submission process.
  • However, as a trainer you will need to sign a Training Services agreement if you would like to be listed on the directory and or to have access to potential training leads in the future.
  • To reach preferred status, you will need to show your ability to scale by having a minimum of three SMART Certified Trainers on staff tracked by a common email domain.
  • Initially we will reward using two main incentives. When a candidate is trained by an SCT, a candidate may refer the trainer, so the trainer receives a certification expiration extension documented during the payment process. The candidate may receive a one-month certification expiration extension by completing a survey of the SMART Certified Trainer workshop.

FAQs

  1. I am a current STC and I want to continue my training business with SMART, but I received a termination letter. What should I do?
    • You will be listed on the SMART Where-to-Buy directory and will continue business as usual until your contract ends. Then you will have to maintain certain requirements to continue being listed and benefit from the new program, such as having at least 3 STCs onboard and completing all required training online.
  2. Will I need to sign a Training Center contract for the new program?
    • No. We will not be offering Training Center status moving forward. Preferred or Preferred Plus status will be achieved based on the ability to scale and perform, tracked by email domain.
  3. Will there be an online listing where my organization will be displayed as a training partner?
    • There will be one listing, available via the SCT directory. The name of the organization can be displayed next to each SCT’s names.

FAQs

  1. Why doesn’t my organization show up when searching for training?
    • Visibility is based on proximity to the training requestor and then on the level achieved as an SCT (e.g. Preferred SCTs will be elevated to the top, and Preferred Plus SCTs will be elevated above Preferred SCTs.)
  2. How can I add visibility to my organization?
    • SCT status is based on the ability to scale (e.g. 3 SCTs on staff tracked by email domain and performance). The more SCTs you refer or prepare for the online certification, the higher your status.
  3. Will I have to pay a fee to become a training partner?
    • There is no training center or partner fee. However, trainers are required to pay the annual SCT fee and maintain all pre-requisite learning. If a requirement is not met, the SCT is removed from the list until it is met again.

FAQs

  1. How can my trainees refer me?
    • Upon completion of in-person training, you need to send the candidate to complete the certification on training.smarttech.com. Upon completion of the program, they will be requested to enter the trainer’s email address.
  2. What do I, as a trainer, gain by being referred by a trainee?
    • Once SCT candidates complete the online certification and refer you (as the trainer), your current expiration date is extended by 30 days
      • 1-2 referrals – 1 month
      • 3-5 referrals – 2 months
      • 6-9 referrals – 3 months
      • 10-14 referrals – 4 months
  3. I am currently a SMART Training Center with SCTs on staff. Do all of them need to go through the online SCT certification?
    • Yes, the only way to be a SMART Certified Trainer will be via the online certification on training.smarttech.com. If they are current SCTs, their status will be maintained until the expiration date.

FAQs

  1. Can I submit a sign-in sheet with people I trained?
    • No more sign-in sheets will be accepted. People you train will have to refer you when they complete their online Trainer certification.
  2. Will I have to notify SMART and pay a royalty for each SCT I train?
    • No royalty is due to SMART, but SCTs or training partners will not be able to certify other SCTs anymore. They can train them and then the official certification is achieved online with SMART. You are encouraged to offer a service that prepares candidates for the certification to include helping them record their video in a classroom setting as a means to offer an additional service by trainers as well as assuring trainees have the best opportunity to be successful during the certification process.
  3. How much should I charge for my training services?
    • As an SCT you set the price for your training services as you see fit. This is your business. SMART sets the price for the online certifications only.
