Observe your intern at least four times�

Schedule formal observations of the intern with the intern and mentor:

    • 2 during the first placement
    • 2 during the second placement

Visit the intern regularly throughout the internship experience to:

  • Confer
  • Guide
  • Observe
  • Provide constructive feedback and assistance

Confer with the intern following each observation at the school �

  • Provide oral feedback to the intern (with mentor present) immediately following the observation lesson;
  • Offer the mentor the opportunity to share feedback candidly during the conferences;
  • Provide written feedback within 3 days of observation.

  • Confer and maintain contact with the mentor.

  • Be available to the mentor to offer assistance and information as requested.

  • Provide oral feedback within 24 hours of each observation and written feedback within 3 days of each observation.
  • Oral feedback can be provided virtually or in-person.
  • The mentor MUST be present for the feedback session and is encouraged to contribute.

  • Check the lesson plan binder for your intern after each observation -- as part of the conference.
  • The lesson plan “binder” can be physical or electronic.
