TELEVISION

  • Television(TV) is one of the most influential media.
  • It is an audio-visual medium
  • It makes it possible to see and hear about events happening in far off places, even while one remains within the four walls of one’s home.
  • This ability of TV to enter homes and thus lives, makes it a personal medium
  • TV brings to its viewers a variety of programmes ranging from news bulletins, serials, music and film-based programmes to features like interviews, live shows, sport-based programmes etc.

  • TV can be an important central media in providing formal and informal education.

Role of teacher in educational television

  • Planning and preparation of program- A teacher can be the person who creates an ETV programme.
  • Production of program- A teacher while producing a ETV programme should have the knowledge about the technical aspects of recording, editing etc.
  • Presentation of program- A teacher can be the real presenter of the programme. And teacher should have the deep knowledge about subject presented and able to present in an interesting way.
  • Selection and utilisation of program- It is responsibility of the teacher to identify and select suitable educational programmes.
  • Evaluation of program- The broadcasted programmes all need not be good and useful. So a teacher can critically review and analyse it

Role teacher in the use of films

  • Teacher can select films which are appropriate and suitable to the situations
  • Teacher should make arrangements for the screening of the film (facilities like TV, LCD projector, audio aids, hall arrangements)
  • Before presenting a film it is advisable for the teacher to preview the film
  • Presenting the film- The film is shown to the audience
  • Evaluation and feedback –The students can be made to review the film either individually or collectively.
