Creating Degree Completion Plans

Reaching the Student Planner

  1. Login to your EOU OneLogin at https://eou.onelogin.com/login
  2. Locate & enter the Degree Works application
  3. Navigate to the Plans tab

Creating New Plans

  • Select either “Blank Plan” or “Select Template”������
  • If you already have a plan(s), a new one can be created by clicking New Plan

Templates

  • Templates come populated with course requirements for the majors offered at EOU�
  • Templates are used as guides and should not be considered as a final option towards your graduation plan�
  • Please revise the template you have chosen and make adjustments according to your needs�

Selecting Templates

  • You can choose from a range of templates by clicking New Plan at the top right corner of the Plans tab��
    • The popup window should appear so you can select the option Select Template
  • Scroll through the list of templates to find the degree/program & academic year you need
  • Select the template (will highlight in blue) you need & click Open
  • Choose the starting term you want for the plan and click Ok
    • Example: A new student for Fall 2019 would choose Fall 2019 as their start term

View Options for Pre-Existing Plans

  • Select the plan you want to view (highlighted in blue) & choose the View option you wish to use

  • There are three view options to choose from…
    • Audit - Side by side view of your degree audit (with the planned courses) and the calendar view
    • Calendar - View of the planned coursework grouped by terms and years
    • Edit - View to make edits to your plan

  • You can access the Audit feature through both the Calendar & Edit views, by using the button

Term Selection

  • Add a new term by clicking the button (top right corner in the plan)�
  • Select the appropriate start term from the drop down menu
    • We will select Fall 2020 for this example�
  • The plan will populate as shown below, with the first term being what you selected (Fall of 2020 for this example)

Adding Requirement/Course(s)

  • Add a requirement/course by clicking the button (in the right hand corner of your first/start term)

  • Select the appropriate requirement from the drop down menu
    • Choice - used when a specific course may not be selected yet but you know a certain requirement will need to be fulfilled that term (Example: you will need a Social Science course, of at least 4 credits)
    • Course - used when you know a specific course is needed and want to plan it for that term
  • Any combination of Choices and Courses can be used & will populate as shown below

Course and Choice Requirement Examples

  • Choice - Deciding between multiple courses����
  • Choice - 4 Credit requirement in anything AEH General Education ����
  • Course - WR 115 was decided

Prerequisite Warnings

  • When adding courses you may encounter prerequisite �warnings when you attempt to save the plan
    • Select Cancel to go back & edit the plan more (this does NOT save your plan)
    • Select OK to save your plan with the prerequisite warning

  • The courses with missing prerequisites will highlight in yellow (like shown below)

  • Hover over the icon to see the missing prerequisite
    • Add the missing prerequisite where necessary & resave the plan to remove the warning

Course Selection Help

  • Tabs…
    • Still Needed Tab - Courses that you are missing/need to complete your �Degree
    • Courses Tab - List of EOU courses currently offered
  • Buttons…
    • Refresh - Update the course�list each time new requirements�are added to the plan
    • Collapse All - Collapse the �sections you have expanded
  • Courses can be dragged and dropped from the menus on the right hand side to the term you wish to take them during

Course Availability Information

  • Semester, times, & modalities of courses offered can be viewed by…
    • Clicking on the course from the menu on the right hand side
      • A pop up window will appear after clicking on the course that shows the course information��
    • Clicking the icon, found next to the course or total credits
      • A pop up window will appear
      • *Courses used in a Choice requirement will not appear in the pop up windows

Notes

  • You can add notes to the plan, individual terms, and individual requirements within the terms
  • To add a Note look for the icon
    • Once you click the icon, the following �window will pop up
    • Click on Add Note & Done once you have finished your note
      • You could add multiples notes
      • You can edit or delete any notes�from this window
  • The following icon denotes that a note exists for that field:

Term Removal

  • To remove a term
    • Select Delete this term for the term you wish to delete

Requirement/Course Removal

  • To remove a requirement/course in a specific term
    • Select the requirement you wish to remove (the requirement will highlight in blue as show with WR 115 below)
    • Select to remove the requirement

Reassigning Terms

  • Terms can be reassigned by…
    • Click Reassign for the term��
    • The term will become a drop down menu for you to make a different selection�����
    • After you have made the selection, click Ok
      • The term will automatically adjust its order according to the rest of the terms

What-If Scenarios

  • When editing the plan you can process a What-If scenario to see how the planned coursework will apply to a different degree path
  • Click the What-If button located next to the Audit & Save As options at the bottom of the Edit view
    • A pop-up window should appear with a couple of fields populated

What-If Scenarios continued...

  • Choose the desired criteria of a degree plan you wish to see
    • Example: Changing Business Administration to Computer Science
  • You can add additional fields such as minors or concentrations
    • Click Add Another Field - A new field should populate
    • Use the dropdown menu to change the field
    • Click the at the end of the additional fields to remove them
  • Select Run Audit to see how the planned coursework would apply to the what if scenario
  • You can also Print an audit of the what if scenario

Plan Tracking

  • Tracking guides you through completing the plan you have created & your Advisor has approved
  • Tracking Statuses:
    • On track -
      • You are registered for the course(s) planned
      • You have completed the requirement(s) planned
    • Off track -
      • You did not complete the course(s) work planned
      • You did not complete the requirement(s) planned
    • Warning -
      • You did not register for the course(s) planned
  • **Your Advisor is the only one who can Lock a plan to enable the Tracking feature for you
  • **Meet with your Advisor to go over your plan & have it approved/locked

Remember to…

  • Check the Active box next to the plan description
    • **Active plans are the only plans that can be locked for approval - Meet with your Advisor for approval to have plan locked�
  • ALWAYS Save your plan after filling out a term of courses! (use the Save button at the bottom of the Edit view)
